1. When creating your script, select the ‘Contest’ attribute.
2. From the options available select ‘Logline Showdown.’
3. Publish your script!
You are now automatically entered into the contest every month. You only need to do this once to be permanently considered for a review. If you wish to no longer be considered, remove the attribute and save your script again.
1. The contest’s sole judge is the creator. While the primary evaluation is based on their judgment, the community’s enthusiasm for a logline, indicated by the red line on each script, will also be considered.
2. The creator’s viewpoint is individual and does not necessarily align with others’ perspectives. It is a personal opinion, distinct and independent.
3. The creator is committed to providing honest reviews for the betterment of scriptwriters. Favouring a logline does not equate to an endorsement of the entire script; these aspects are distinguishable. As such a review of the entire script may include areas for improvement and constructive criticism.
4. The creator reserves the right to favourite a script based on its logline, yet this doesn’t guarantee a review. The favouriting option serves as a preliminary selection tool, streamlining the process of choosing scripts for final review. It’s important to note that favourited scripts may be removed from the list at a later stage.
5. The creator commits to reading the initial twenty pages of a selected script, proceeding only if sufficiently captivated. The level of interest will be evident in the subsequent review, emphasizing the crucial importance of engaging the creator’s attention from the outset.
6. In conducting script reviews, the creator prioritizes accuracy and fairness. Once a review is published, changes or edits are unlikely, as the creator operates on a tight schedule and has already acted with due diligence, using their years of experience to accurately assess the effectiveness of the script. However, in the spirit of reasonableness, if dissatisfied with a review, you may request its removal, and the creator will promptly comply.
A screenplay logline is a concise and compelling summary that captures the essence of your script. It typically includes the following elements:
Protagonist and Goal: Clearly identify the main character (protagonist) and what they want to achieve or overcome. This sets the central focus of your story.
Antagonist or Conflict: Introduce the main obstacle or conflict that the protagonist must face. This can be a person, a situation, or an internal struggle.
Stakes: Highlight the consequences or stakes involved. What happens if the protagonist succeeds, and what are the risks or losses if they fail? This adds urgency and significance to the story.
Genre and Tone: Provide a hint of the genre and tone of your screenplay. This helps the reader understand the style and atmosphere of your story.
Unique Selling Proposition (USP): Mention any distinctive or original elements that make your story stand out. This could be a unique setting, a twist in the plot, or a fresh take on a familiar theme.
Visual Imagery: Paint a vivid mental picture. Use concise and evocative language to convey the visual and emotional elements of your story.
Here’s an example logline for a classic film:
“In a dystopian future, a reluctant hero, armed only with his wits and a battered spaceship, must lead a group of rebels against a tyrannical government to save the last remaining bastion of freedom.”
Remember to keep your logline brief and focused, ideally under 25 words. It should generate interest and intrigue without giving away all the details of your story.
