About NxtScript – An equal opportunities portfolio network for scriptwriters
NxtScript was developed and fully funded by myself; a screenwriter and novelist from the UK.
Despite years of writing both screenplays and novels, it’s only recently that a few of my scripts have started to attract some attention. Understanding the arduous journey not just to success but merely to garner notice, I’ve realised the industry often operates on a “who you know” basis or relies heavily on financial investments in platforms like the Blacklist and numerous competitions—expenditures that may or may not yield meaningful reviews or success.
Originally conceived as a personal portfolio website to showcase my own works, given my dual occupation as a web developer, the vision for NxtScript expanded beyond those boundaries and I soon aspired to create an inclusive space where everyone could participate. My new goal was to foster a community where members collaboratively unearthed their talents and celebrated each other’s accomplishments. The commitment to keeping the platform as free as possible without compromising on quality was paramount. Consequently, every author is extended the opportunity to submit their three best scripts for review by fellow members and industry professionals. And they will all receive home page exposure upon submission.
The future of Nxtscript holds even greater possibilities. I envision a comprehensive platform that not only supports scriptwriting but also offers a means for educators and students to communicate and evolve together.
Additionally (in the future), I aim to foster collaboration by facilitating the formation of production teams, catering to those who aspire to work on independent projects in their local areas.
